ABSTRACT
The article reports on the presentation of American Rose Society's (ARS) Gold Honor Medal to James S. Hering in November 2006. One of Hering's greatest areas of service is his leadership of the ARS. As president of the society, he was known for his consensus building, striving for unity as he tried to address the organization's various interests. He continued to contribute to the society even after his term ended.
