The article provides information about the new editor John Mecklin of the "High Country News" in the U.S. He started his career in journalism in 1978 as a reporter for the "Williamson County Sun" in Texas and became the editor of the first "New Times" in Phoenix and then the "San Francisco Weekly." His plans for the newspaper were concentrated on reporting interesting stories, and at the same time retain its traditional coverage. Meanwhile, several letters to the editor are presented in response to article in previous issues including the current wilderness bills in California by Patrick Farrell, "Sweet Simplicity" in the October 2, 2006 issue and "Reborn" in the September 4, 2006 issue.
