ABSTRACT
The article reports that an expansion of e-mail alerts, better presentation of current and historical data, and the use of text messaging were all suggested as potential improvements for the British Potato Council-funded aphid monitoring service. The scheme provides a virus risk assessment by estimating aphid pressure from insect catches in water traps. The results are posted on the aphmon.csl.gov.uk web site after aphid identification by the Central Science Laboratory.
