ABSTRACT
The article presents information on the use of social networking web sites by college students and organizations for their profile promotion. These sites allow users to meet, interact and share their ideas. The article mentions two web sites, MySpace and Facebook, which are highly popular among university students. These web sites offer a link of contacts on a person's profile and increase the reachability and communication among different users. To restrict unauthorized interaction, these sites offer some tools which allow access to only those people who are approved by the profile's owner. Social networking sites are also useful for libraries.
