ABSTRACT
The article focuses on a study related to the risks and benefits of conservative compared with a liberal fluid-management strategy in patients with acute lung injury (ALI). Randomized controlled trials with 1001 ALI patients were conducted for 60 days and each strategy was used on equal half of the total patients. The study concluded that a conservative fluid-management strategy did not affect risk for death but shortened the duration of mechanical ventilation in ALI patients.
