ABSTRACT
The article presents various studies related to medical microbiology. These studies include the use of doxycycline and novobiocin as alternative antibiotics for Burkholderia cepacia infection, hepatitis C viral load in blood and liver biopsies and an analysis of the eradication of the carrier state for methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus in transplant patients.

Daptomycin is an extensively used anti-staphylococcal agent due to the rise in methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, but the mechanism(s) of resistance is poorly understood. Comparative genome sequencing, transcriptomics, ultrastructure, and cell envelope studies were carried out on two...

Background: The emergence of community-associated methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (CA-MRSA) has caused a change in MRSA epidemiology worldwide. In the Middle East, the persistent spread of CA-MRSA isolates that were associated with multilocus sequence type (MLST) clonal complex 80...

It is well recognized that methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) has become a community pathogen. Several key differences between community- associated and hospital-associated MRSA strains exist, including distinct methicillin resistance genes and genetic backgrounds and differing...

The multiple antibiotic resistance of methicillin-resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) has become a major clinical problem worldwide. The key determinant of the broad-spectrum β-lactam resistance in MRSA strains is the penicillin-binding protein 2a (PBP2a). Because of its low...

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is well known for its epidemicity, with the emergence of new clones on a daily basis. Diversity in the clonal types of MRSA challenges the success of treatment, as different clones respond to different sets of antibiotics. However, the...
