ABSTRACT
The article presents a study on the suppression of immunological response against a transgene product delivered from microencapsulated cells. Microencapsulated recombinant cells producing human growth hormone were implanted into C57B1/6 mice to provoke anti-human growth hormone antibody production. The efficacy of different immunosuppressive treatments was investigated to inhibit the development of neutralizing antibodies.

CTLA-4·Ig was originally designed as an immunosuppressive agent capable of interfering with the co-stimulation of T cells. In the present study, we demonstrate that CTLA-4·Ig, in combination with TCR ligation, has the additional capacity to convert naive CD4࠽− T...

Endochondral bone formation at epiphyseal growth plate consists of the synchronized processes of chondrogenesis and cartilage ossification.
