ABSTRACT
The article provides historical accounts on hydraulic components in the U.S., particularly in the innovations made by Muncie Power Products in the 1930s. Trucks were smaller, simpler and less capable during the Great Depression. In 1935, the newly formed Muncie Parts Manufacturing Co. hired Hamer Shafer who run the company selling power take-offs.
