ABSTRACT
The article reports on the third-quarter 2006 financial performance of French oil major Total. Total saw sales from petrochemicals and specialities increase by 20% for the third quarter of 2006, over the same period in 2005, to €4.85bn. Adjusted net income rose sharply from €100m to €248 million, with business benefiting from solid market demand and improved petrochemicals margins as naphtha prices fell. Adjusted operating income was up 224% to €350 million.
