This article reports on the performance of the chemical industry worldwide. Prices of naphtha in Asia fell as crude oil weakened. Supply of ethylene in Europe is still tight and producers are holding on to material ahead of the heavy shutdown period. Butadiene demand remains healthy in Europe and prices abroad are firm. A fairly active European market has seen plenty of benzene trade.
