The article reflects on the author's view regarding the laws that are related to the fire service profession. The author noted that the 1960s was a decade of change in the profession, citing the Equal Pay Act of 1963. The author noted that the 1970s has seen a shift toward concern for safety in the workplace with the creation of the Occupational Safety and Health Act. He concluded that the 1990s began with the enactment of the Americans with Disabilities Act in 1990.
