ABSTRACT
The article reports on the possibility that Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin will vie for a U.S. Army contract that would establish an open architecture to integrate existing and future air and missile defense sensors. A request for proposals was anticipated in November 2006, but the release could be delayed until after 2007 begins because the program will need to be reviewed by the Army and the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
