ABSTRACT
The article provides an overview of the history of the chemical company Kuraray. In 1926, Kurashiki Kenshoku Co. was established. In 1928, production of rayon filament yarn started at the Kurashiki plant. The company changed its name to Kuraray Co. Ltd. in 1970. In 1983, cement-reinforcing Kuralon was developed. Septon thermoplastic elastomer was commercialized in 1990. In 2002, the U.S. production of septon started. In 2004, Kuraray Research and Technical Centre started its operations.
