ABSTRACT
The article reports on the efforts of the European Commission to deal with the problems of using cheap plastic bags in Europe. The Commission is penalizing imports of cheap Asian plastic bags that are used by shoppers across Europe. European Union trade commissioner Peter Mandelson and his Brussels bureaucrats insist that antidumping duties are needed to protect European plastic bag makers.
