The 27-year-old man was admitted to a hospital with left-sided loin pain and week's history of respiratory tract infection. A liter of blood was aspirated from the pleural cavity which allowed the identification of a mass arising from the 7th intercostal nerve on the posterior aspect of the chest wall.
