ABSTRACT
The article reports on the closure of the 405-line very high frequency television services of the British Broadcasting Corp. (BBC). The 625-line ultra high frequency services which transmit BBC-1, BBC-2 and independent television in color will in due course transmit the fourth channel service. The extension of the 625-line services to communities with populations of 500 or more should be completed by 1984.
