ABSTRACT
The article discusses the Domain Name System (DNS) and the need to protect it. The author argues that the DNS is one of the most critical parts of all Internet applications. Because of this, it is a prime target for attackers. Examples of how this system is attacked are given. DNSs use a process of transaction signature in order to communicate, but hackers can subvert this system. A list of steps that can be implemented to thwart attackers is presented. Although many organizations have admitted that identity theft and pharming are major problems, few have taken the necessary action needed to prevent these crimes.
