ABSTRACT
The article presents the criticisms faced by consumer-driven health plans as discussed in a gathering of health and policy leaders in Washington, D.C. in 2006. Among the criticisms is that the plan only appeals to the young, healthy and wealthy consumers but according to Beth Bierbower, vice president of product design and development for Humana, there is already a shift from a consumer-driven health plan to a focus on consumerism.
