ABSTRACT
The article provides an update on the Asian chemical industry as of October 2006. A report from China Geological Survey has highlighted that half of China's shallow groundwater has been contaminated, and groundwater resources have been exploited for industrial production. Meanwhile, Taiwan's Nanya Plastics, is expected to be a beneficiary of improving cross-strait relations between the island and China. In addition to news, Monsanto India Ltd. has secured its shareholders' permission to sell its wheat herbicide business.
