ABSTRACT
The article reports on the plan of Angela Merkel, German chancellor, to put nuclear energy on the agenda for the government's energy summit in Spring 2007. According to an industry association, Germany's ambitious environmental targets cannot be realised without nuclear energy. In the 2006 summit, attention was given to the issues of international energy supply, energy efficiency and productivity, along with renewable energy sources. However, too little attention was given to the national energy policy.
