ABSTRACT
The article presents an update on the chemical industry as of October 2006. Carotino, a subsidiary of Malaysian palm oil producer JC Chang Group, is to export its fifth batch of biodiesel to Europe. Arkema has closed its crude acrylic acid plant in Carling, France, to raise capacity at the site by 15%. Also in the news, trading activity for phenol imports in Asia is thin, as market players in China have just returned from the National Day holidays.
