ABSTRACT
An encyclopedia entry for "languages" in Alaska is presented. Besides English, Alaska's languages include 20 Native American languages. The Eskimo language group is widely spoken by many Natives in Western and Northern Alaska. Most of these Native languages are at risk of extinction. They include Han, Haida, Eyak, Tanana, Tlingit, Dena'ina, Ahtna, Ingalik, Holikachuk, Tsimshian, Koyukon, Upper Kuskokwim, Upper Tanana, Gwich'in and Aleut.
