ABSTRACT
This article presents the Advertising Age & Money.com's online market index of the top 50 publicly traded marketing and media companies for the week ended September 17, 1999. Stock in H.J. Heinz Co., which missed third-quarter profit targets, moved up from its 12-month low despite a collapsed bid to merge with Bestfoods. Other AdMarket 50 food marketers, none of which is tied to merger talks, struggled to post stock gains in a market that was down for most of the week.
