ABSTRACT
The article reviews a phase 3 trial made on middle-aged and overweight adults with poor glucose regulation but without heart disease. The randomized controlled trial led by Dr. Hertzel Gerstein of McMaster University reveals that consumption of 8 mg of rosiglitazone (Avandia) daily coupled with lifestyle counselling reduces the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.
