Literature Circles for Science

The article discusses the literature circles, a popular reading strategy that emphasizes student interest and conversation. As alleged, literature circles are a way of encouraging and motivating students to learn all experiences from hands-on inquiry to textbook-based learning. It is claimed that there are two kinds of circles. The first is the topic-focused. In this method, students with common interest identify topics for their own discussion. The process is considered of benefits because the books they chose do not have to be on the same reading level. Meanwhile, in text-focused groups, each group member reads the same student-selected book. It is considered that the books they chose need not to be nonfiction at all times. They can likewise read fictions with science themes.
