ABSTRACT
The article presents a narrative of the author's experience during a spring rain in New York City. He looks at the way pedestrians moved to avoid the rain. He observes how the rain had the effect of pressing the city down into itself. He describes the shaft of sunlight that struck the face of St. Patrick's Cathedral after the rain had stopped.
