ABSTRACT
The author discusses his experience of traveling to the Basque town of Guernica, Spain. He learned that he resembles exactly a Basque sea captain who lives in Guernica. He visited the Tree of Guernica, an oak tree where the elderly Basque statesmen met to discuss issues concerning the land that they call Euzkadi. He found that Basques are fractious and extreme in their political gestures at a meeting of influential Basques.
