ABSTRACT
The article considers the performance of theatrical improvisation at the Second City, a coffeehouse-cabaret located in Chicago, Illinois. The composition of the theatrical ensemble performing at the venue is provided. A discussion on the meaning and origin of improvisation is presented. An overview of an improvised theatrical skit is described.
