ABSTRACT
The author discusses how grocery headquarters can effectively achieve performance targets in its sub-stores. Retailing is such a challenging task, the author claims. A story on Coca-Cola's retailing research project lets retail managers and researchers give themselves the ambitious task of quantifying the people-oriented skills that are so crucial to management at the store level, but so hard to analyze on a spreadsheet.
