ABSTRACT
The author discusses the sealing off of East Berlin from West Berlin, Germany on August 13, 1961. He compared the event to that of the demonstrations taken by East German workers against Russian troops in June 17, 1953. East Berlin has been taken over by Vopos and detachments of the People's Army and some Russian soldiers. He noticed that during his railroad travel on the S-Bah train, East Berlin has been quiet while West Berlin is lively with crowded beer halls and noisy people.
