ABSTRACT
The article comments on musical performances in New York City in January 1961. It criticizes the current Metropolitan Opera season as one of the dullest despite presentable productions of the Mozart repertory and Verdi items. Some proposals are presented to address the institution's problems. Other musical events include the Warsaw Philharmonic's performance at Carnegie Hall and the American Opera Society's production of "The Coronation of Poppea" in Town Hall.
