ABSTRACT
The article comments on the election of Democratic candidate John Fitzgerald Kennedy as the 35th president of the U.S. Kennedy won a slim lead over Republican candidate Richard M. Nixon, thus it is doubtful if the American populace gave him an overwhelming mandate. Nevertheless, Kennedy represents a party which can claim a mandate from the American people.
