ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the advantages of the purchase of Mercantile Bankshares Corp. by PNC Financial Services Group Inc. The deal will add 250 automated teller machines (ATM) to the network of PNC in several states, making it the ninth-largest ATM owner in the U.S. PNC will also add Mercantile's 182,000 debit cards to its estimated 3.25 million debit cards, making it one of the largest debit issuers in the country.
