ABSTRACT
The article profiles George Russell, 37-year-old jazz composer, arranger, and pianist from Cincinnati. The author describes Russell's music as atonal since it is based on Lydian Concept of Tonal Organization. In the "Jazz in the Garden" concerts, he made a revelation for the full-time group he has led. His band consisting of Midwestern musicians include Al Kiger, Dave Baker, Dave Young, Ted Snyder, and Joe Hunt.
