ABSTRACT
The article describes an expedition by ethnologists from the Museum of Natural History, Dr. Robert L. Carneiro and his wife, Dr. Gertrude Dole to an island in the Ucayali River in the great Peruvian jungle known as the Montana. They will studying the Amahuaca Indians who are some of the most primitive and elusive Indians in Peru. The Carneiros carried some fifteen hundred pounds of supplies and equipment which include a tape recorder, rain gauge, cameras and portable radios among others.
