ABSTRACT
The article presents a humorous anecdote about a nurseryman who was wrapping burlap on the trunk of a young ginkgo tree at Madison Avenue in New York City. When a matron asked him if the burlap was a protection against caterpillars, the man replied that it was a protection not against caterpillars but against small boys.
