ABSTRACT
The article relates some observations of everyday life in New York City and Venice, Italy. A group of men digging in the street of Brooklyn created noises that distracted the customers of a nearby midtown café. A notice posted on a youth hostel in Venice states that the Venetian Committee for the Defense of Children requests citizens and tourists to dress appropriately so as not to offence the innocence of children.
