ABSTRACT
The article discusses the fashion design of clothes for women in New York City. The city has cold weather, allowing women to wear the same types of clothes, coats, jackets, and wraps for nine months. These dresses are made of wool or wool jersey. Many ready-to-wear clothes have very wide shoulders even if they are open under the arms while most suits and coats have very short and flaring sleeves. Also, the long waist is back except for some sleeveless sheaths of black wool with camisole necks.
