ABSTRACT
The article focuses on abstractionist Joachim Torrès-Garcia and British artist Joseph Wright. Between the two, Wright was considerably the more successful. He matured in the midst of social and economic changes of the Industrial Revolution. He was clearly a romantic at heart. Torrès-Garcia has a strong personal quality and a considerable amount of philosophic impact. The works of the two artists are described.
