ABSTRACT
The article presents an update on innovations. The sterilisation method for fruit and vegetables called metabolic stress disinfection/disinfestation could provide an alternative to irradiation or methyl bromide fumigation for pest control. U.S. researchers have discovered a potentially powerful therapy for diabetes, with the finding that a family of proteins called netrins restores nerve and blood-vessel growth in mice.
