ABSTRACT
The article discusses the author's experience as a photojournalist in the Middle East. In 1976, he has left Beirut, Lebanon, which was caught up in the early stages of a long and deadly civil war. He was reluctant to leave Lebanon because the war was a great but dangerous story. In 2006, he has set up an exhibition at the American University in Cairo, Egypt and he was challenged to edit memories covering 30 years of his assignments and photographs. He said there is pain in some of the photographs, and it was painful to think of the circumstances that caused the pain. The gallery visitors saw themselves through their post-colonial condition. The author hopes that his daughter will continue to share his passion.
