The article offers a look at how an excellent financial plan created by sophisticated computer programs does not guarantee that a client will adhere to it. The author discusses the role of the emotional state of the client and suggests that financial planners should be able to manage clients' tendencies to stray from the goals of the plan. The author presents quotes from Daniel Goleman, author of "Emotional Intelligence." The author argues that in order to improve emotional intelligence, financial planners can try to understand their reactions to upsetting situations.
