The article assesses the state of the oil and chemical sector in the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Things are changing very rapidly and this especially applies to developments in the oil and chemical industry. A number of factors have exerted their influence on the refining, chemical and storage sectors in the port area, such as the sharp increase in oil and gas prices and, as a consequence, in feedstock prices for the refining and chemicals sectors.
