ABSTRACT
The article focuses on propylene oxide (PO). The main consumer of PO is polyether polyols, followed by propylene glycol. Propylene availability is short due to production upsets. The traditional route is either by chlorohydrin or epoxidation. PO is a clear, colorless, liquid, with an ether-like odor. It is very volatile and highly flammable, and is a dangerous fire and explosion hazard.
