The article reports on the financial performance of Arkema in the first half of 2006. It reported first half operating profits at € 137 million, down from € 150 million in the first half of 2005. Productivity initiatives, price increases and higher volumes in the performance products sector helped offset the weaker first halt 2006 numbers. Sales rose by 5.8% as all three sectors, vinyl products, industrial chemicals and performance products, pushed through higher prices.
