The article presents an experience about a misunderstanding with a burner manufacturer regarding a low-nitrogen-oxide burner for a project that requires the installation of a new steam boiler at a correctional institution. Under environmental regulations, it is required to specify a low-nitrogen-oxide burner. The length of the burner shown in preliminary layouts received several months later was too long, so a shorter design was requested. The burner needed to be dual fuel.
