ABSTRACT
The article provides updates on the consumer confidence index in the U.S. for August 2006. According to reports, the index dropped to 99.6 from an upwardly revised 107.0 last July of the same year. It was believed that consumer confidence lost significant ground and is now at its lowest level for the year. The decline was due to less favorable business conditions and less favorable job scenario.
