ABSTRACT
The article presents the opinion of the author on the impact of the Equal Pay Act in bridging down gender pay gap in Illinois. The act became effective in January 2004 and aims to close the wage gap for working women, ensure that women are paid fairly and that every worker is aware of his or her rights. The Department of Labor of Illinois has handled more than 200 cases. Illinois has shown leadership in bridging that gap with the Equal Pay Act.
