ABSTRACT
The author comments on the paper "Combined Anterior Plus Posterior Stabilization Versus Posterior Short-Segment Instrumentation and Fusion for Mid-Lumbar (L2 to L4) Burst Fractures," by P. Korovessis et al. He notes the study uses a randomized trial design comparing combined anterior and posterior surgery with posterior short-segment transpedicular fixation (SSTF) alone. He contends that the study confirms the usefulness of an SSTF through a posterior approach alone for mid-lumbar fractures.
