ABSTRACT
This article provides information on several promotional events sponsored by various companies as of September 1999. Guinness Import Co. hosts the first Bass Ale Comedy Festival in New York, featuring a series of free comedy events open to the public at Manhattan bars. The events, celebrating British humor, lead up to an admission-only Grand Finale event on October 2, 1999 headlined by Janeane Garofalo and a line-up of top local comedy performers. On the other hand, MoneyGram will launch a sweepstakes offering a pair of round-trip airline tickets in Africa where MoneyGram has service. Running through November 1999, the promotion targets customers who frequently wire funds to that continent. Lastly, Valvoline Co. will also launch its fall sweepstakes, Catch the Action, giving the top winner an expenses-paid trip for four on a private jet to three college football games. Other prizes include eight big screen televisions and 500 subscriptions to Sports Illustrated.
